Blue-eyed grass is a beautiful clump forming perennial (actually not a grass at all) that makes an excellent specimen for the front-of-the-border. It is characterized by small, intense blue star-shaped flowers with yellow centers that are surrounded by thin, sword-shaped iris-like slender leaves. 'Lucerne' blooms profusely through spring and has larger flowers than the species. They prefer consistently moist, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade and will benefit from a good layer of mulch. They have no major insect or disease issues.
