'Indian Steel' Indiangrass is a clump-forming, warm-season perennial grass with striking steel-blue foliage, tall feathery panicles, and excellent four-season ornamental appeal. It is a cultivar of Sorghastrum nutans, commonly known as Indian Grass, native to North America. It forms upright clumps of blue-green leaves that can reach 3–5 feet tall, with flowering stems extending up to 6 feet. In late summer, it produces narrow, feathery panicles of buttery yellow flowers that mature to coppery-bronze seed heads in fall, providing visual interest and food for songbirds. 'Indian Steel' is a great choice for sustainable landscapes, natural areas, and modern designs that demand structured, yet restful, form and texture.
