Stonecrop is one of the best plants for xeriscaping or water-wise gardens in part due to their succulent-like nature. They thrive in the heat and full sun and don't mind being on the drier side too. 'Sapphire tuffet' is a low-growing, groundcover style sedum that forms clumps of smoky blue-grey foliage topped with giant 6-8", vibrant, raspberry-colored flowers. Excellent for covering slopes or as groundcover in sunny, dry areas. Extremely drought tolerant once established. Stonecrop does best in well-drained soils and can even be planted between rocks, pavers, and other small areas where other perennials may otherwise grow. They are also relatively disease/insect resistant and rabbits and deer tend to avoid them.
