Adam's needle is a very striking native addition to any landscape that adds a tropical or dessert vibe. Yuccas are characterized by their sword like leaves that rise out of the crown like a rosette and can be quite sharp. Leaf edges often fray and adds intrigue to the leaves. By summer, a very large, tower of creamy bell-like flowers rises out of the center and stands several feet above the foliage. Aside from its spectacular floral show, yuccas also boast disease/insect resistance and deer and rabbits shy away. Adam's needle does best in full sun in almost any soil; tolerating salt, sand, drought, heat, humidity, and other urban conditions. 'Color Guard' was selected for its contrasting yellow and green leaves.
