'Karen' is a hardy azalea variety that boasts lavender/pink, star-shaped flowers that bloom in clusters against deep green foliage in early spring. Can be used as a hedge or in mass. 'Karen' also has some red foliage color in the fall when weather conditions are right. Azaleas prefer acidic, moist, and humusy soils where they thrive in part shade. They benefit from a layer of mulch since they do not like dry roots. Leaves are evergreen and provide winter interest. They do best in a wind-protected site. Rabbit resistant.
