Beardtongue is an excellent expanding perennial for sunny mixed borders or tucked in amongst other flowers. 'Husker Red' is characterized by tall wands of tubular, two-lipped white/pink flowers that sit above deep maroon colored leaves. Beardtongue readily attracts butterflies and other pollinators and is considered deer resistant. Site them in average, well-drained soils in full sun for best growth. Chosen as the Perennial Plant of the Year in 1996. Bred at the University of Nebraska.
