The hybrid elm TRIUMPH™ (bred at the Morton Arboretum) was primarily selected for its resistant to Dutch elm disease and other insect pests/diseases. It is a larger tree that is tolerant of alkaline and droughty soils, however it prefers average, well drained moist soils. Elms in general are prized for their ability to withstand various growing conditions (salts, clay, and drought), thus it does well as a street tree or a shade tree. Dark green leaves cover the canopy throughout the growing season before turning a golden yellow in autumn. Its vase shaped architecture adds a unique form to landscapes through all seasons.
