Sea lavender, or perennial statice, is one of the easiest florist's flowers to grow. It gets its name from the clouds of airy lavender-colored flowers that bloom in tall panicles in the heat of the summer. Stems rise out of dark green, leathery leaves that grow in rosettes and plants add a unique texture to the perennial garden. Sea lavender does best in well-drained soils in full sun and because of the dense flower display, good air circulation is needed. Flowers make great fresh or dried filler flowers for bouquets.
