Serviceberries make wonderful understory or ornamental trees/shrubs for four season interest. They are covered in small white, fragrant blooms in early spring which mature into edible, bright red fruits by summer. Small, elliptical bright green leaves cover the rounded canopies throughout the growing season before changing to shades of red and coral in autumn. They do best in moist, loamy well-drained soils in full sun to part shade (some tolerance to drought and sweeter soils) and benefit from a layer of mulch. 'Autumn Brilliance' has very little to no insect or disease problems.
