Creeping thyme is often found filling cracks in pavers or edging perennial borders and rock walls. Its fragrant, tiny evergreen leaves creep out across the ground in thick mats (which can be walked on) and in late spring, erupts into a carpet of bright scarlet-pink flowers. Leaves obtain hues of bronze in fall. Creeping thyme does best in full sun in well-drained soils and is very drought tolerant.
